Browns Star WR Injured at Training Camp
The Cleveland Browns received a bit of a scare on Sunday when Amari Cooper got dinged up during the day’s practice at their training camp, but it doesn’t appear to be serious.
According to general manager Andrew Berry, the injury is a minor tweak to an unspecified area of Cooper’s body. He did have core muscle surgery in the offseason but the injury is unrelated to that surgery. Berry said that Cooper will be listed as day to day as a result of the injury.
Last offseason, the Browns acquired Cooper in a trade with the Dallas Cowboys. Dallas received in return a 2022 fifth-round selection and swapped sixth-rounders with Cleveland. However, that cost proved to be more than worth it for the Browns as Cooper went off and had a career year.
He racked over 1100 yards and 9 touchdowns on 78 receptions with both Jacoby Brissett and Deshaun Watson as his quarterbacks. But the team is now expecting big things from Cooper with a full year of chemistry with Watson.
The injury could hurt them, with the Browns down a few receivers. Marquise Goodwin is dealing with blood clots in his legs and lungs. They signed Austin Watkins to replace Goodwin, who is expected to miss a significant period of time after the disorder was revealed.
