For the uninitiated, The Simpsons: Hit & Run is a 2003 action-adventure game developed by Radical Entertainment and published by Vivendi Universal Games. Serving as the twenty-second installment in the Simpsons series of video games, it draws its inspiration from the beloved American animated sitcom, The Simpsons.

Players embark on a thrilling journey with the Simpson family and their friend Apu Nahasapeemapetilon, who find themselves witnessing a series of peculiar incidents occurring in their hometown, Springfield. These incidents involve security cameras, mysterious vans, crop circles, and a new and dangerous version of the popular soft drink, Buzz Cola, which drives people insane. As the mystery deepens, the Simpsons decide to take matters into their own hands and uncover shocking secrets. Soon, they realize that these bizarre events are all part of a larger alien conspiracy, masterminded by the mischievous characters Kang and Kodos.

The gameplay primarily revolves around exploration and missions, where players engage in high-speed races against adversaries and interact with supporting characters while completing timed quests. Drawing elements from role-playing games, the game offers explorable worlds and various side tasks to enhance the gaming experience.

After its initial release for GameCube, PlayStation 2, and Xbox in September 2003, The Simpsons: Hit & Run was ported to Microsoft Windows after two months.
