All lanes of Bay Bridge reopen following police activity
SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — Police activity on the Bay Bridge is creating major traffic gridlock for evening rush hour commuters trying to drive from San Francisco to the East Bay.
The incident, which began at 5 p.m., prompted the California Highway Patrol to close Interstate-80’s eastbound lanes near the toll plaza, as well as the I-80 connector ramp to I-880 south.
All lanes reopened by 6 p.m., the CHP said. A massive traffic backup remains on the bridge, however, with cars moving at a crawling pace along the bridge’s eastbound lanes.
Bay Area bridge incidents have caused severe traffic delays for two out of the last three business days.
This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
