Giants make last-minute moves as training camp opens
Both the Giants’ defensive line and wide receiver corps will look a little different than anticipated Wednesday during the first practice of the preseason.
Defensive tackles A’Shawn Robinson (torn meniscus last season) and D.J. Davidson (torn ACL last season) are two of six players who were placed on the physically unable to perform list Tuesday in conjunction with reporting to training camp.

Defensive tackle Vernon Butler did not report, the team announced.
The moves added some clarity to the Giants’ recent additions of Brandin Bryant and Tashawn Bower.
Bower, a Livingston, N.J., native who signed Tuesday, has two sacks in 26 career games with the Vikings, Patriots and Raiders.

Receivers Sterling Shepherd and Wan’Dale Robinson — both of whom tore an ACL last season — also were placed on PUP.
Jamison Crowder is sidelined with a non-football injury (calf).
Guard Marcus McKethan and cornerback Aaron Robinson also will begin camp on PUP after both tore an ACL last season.
Safety Trenton Thompson was waived and outside linebacker Elerson Smith, a 2021 fourth-round draft pick, was waived with an injury designation.
