Asmongold Reveals He’s “Done” Playing Diablo 4 Following Season 1 Update
Highlights Asmongold, a popular streamer, has decided to stop playing Diablo 4 due to his frustration with the Season 1 update, which he believes has made the game more challenging and less enjoyable.
In a recent YouTube clip, Asmongold expressed his discontent with the game mechanics and stated that he wouldn't continue playing a game that he thinks is not fun.
The negative reception to the 1.1 update, including complaints about side quests and rewards, is concerning for the future of Diablo 4, as Blizzard aims to maintain long-term popularity and community goodwill.
The famous streamer Asmongold will not play Diablo 4 anymore, according to one of his latest videos. Previously, he enjoyed playing the title during streams, but some of the changes in Diablo 4’s Season 1 update have angered him enough to make him quit, as well as lead some fans to review bomb Diablo 4.
This is not the first time that the streamer has become mad with Season of the Malignant. Last week, Asmongold criticized the latest Diablo 4 update, affirming that the whole game is now worse and more challenging. In the update, several builds were nerfed, while enemies became stronger in different ways, which did not sit well with the streamer. Essentially, he believes that Diablo 4 may now be too punishing and that players will need to grind more due to the increased difficulty, which is not fun.

Now, Asmongold has criticized Diablo 4 again, stating that he would quit playing. In a recent YouTube clip, he kept being killed by the same boss, rage-quitting after he was defeated four times in a row. At the end of the clip, the streamer said that he wouldn’t be playing the game anymore because the mechanics were bad, and he was not having fun anymore. He even answered one of the viewers, who was calling him a quitter, explaining that he would not just stand there and play a game that “sucks.” Warning: the clip below contains profanity.
Asmongold abandoning Diablo 4 is far from the only example of the negativity the game has received after the 1.1 update. The overall reception of Season of the Malignant has been mixed, and some Diablo 4 players want better rewards for side quests, for example. Many gamers have complained that finishing side quests is not worth the effort most of the time, as they don’t get many experience points and most of the items that are gained as rewards are not very exciting.
Overall, the unhappy player base does not bode well for Diablo 4’s future seasons. This is a live service that Blizzard hopes will still be popular after a few years, so angering gamers soon after the launch is far from a good sign, and it could erode the overall goodwill of the community. Now all players can do is wait and see if Blizzard’s next updates will solve the current issues of the game.
Diablo 4 is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
