Trader Joe’s recalls soup for possibly containing bugs
Trader Joe’s is recalling its Unexpected Broccoli Cheddar Soup for possibly containing insects, the grocery chain announced.
A supplier alerted the chain that containers of the soup with expiration dates of July 18-Sept. 15 may be contaminated.
The soup comes in a 20-ounce container and is supplied by Winter Gardens Quality Foods in New Oxford, Penn., and distributed as a Trader Joe’s brand in California, among other states.
“No known adverse health effects have been reported to date, and all potentially affected product has been removed from sale and destroyed,” Trader Joe’s said in a statement.
All containers of the soup stamped with these expiration dates should be destroyed or returned to the store for a full refund. Customers with questions may contact Trader Joe’s Customer Relations at 626-599-3817.
The soup recall caps a bad week for the retailer. On Tuesday it announced a recall of Almond Windmill Cookies and its Dark Chocolate Chunk and Almond Cookies, for possibly containing rocks.
