Two injured, two detained after shooting at Bridge Street
HUNTSVILLE, Ala (WHNT) — The Huntsville Police Department (HPD) says one person is injured and two are detained after a shooting at the Bridge Street Mall.
HPD said officers responded to a shooting call at 370 Bridgestreet at 7:22 p.m. HEMSI Spokesperson Don Webster said a male was transported to Huntsville Hospital Trauma Services in serious but stable condition. He said a female was also taken to Huntsville Women and Children with non-life-threatening injuries.
HPD Spokesperson Sydney Martin said that two people have been detained but no further information is available at this time.
Madison County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Office Brent Patterson said that the shooting appears to have been an isolated incident. He said authorities believe the shooting was the result of a fight that escalated.
Both Martin and Patterson said the incident is not active at this time.
The department said it is continuing to investigate. New 19 has a team on the scene and will work to provide updates as they become available.
