A wild brawl broke out inside a Philadelphia stadium as frustrated crowds waited to see country singer Luke Combs' delayed performance.

A man was seen punching and shoving a group of women as he intervened in a catfight at the Lincoln Financial Field on Friday night.

He rushed to the scene and came to the defense of one woman who was being attacked by two others.

The incident was caught on camera and it shows the man punching a woman on the ground before aggressively shoving two more.

Tensions were raised after Combs' performance was set back two hours due to bad weather.

The concertgoers try to defend themselves and punch the man back but he throws one to the ground and shoves the second to the floor

In the video, three women are seen grappling before they all tumble on to the ground and continue to wrestle.

A fourth woman, in a black outfit, tries to defuse the situation before a man wearing a green sports jersey storms in.

He throws a woman, wearing a peach top, off the lady he is defending and punches a blonde woman in the head.

Another man in a red top is seen trying to get involved in the fight and asks others to hold his phone.

But security staff quickly step in and try to diffuse the situation. The man in the green sports jersey is seen with his arms around the woman he was protecting and one of the women he shoved to the ground throws a water bottle at him.

He then walks away with the woman he was helping and the pair are seen going up a set of escalators to a chorus of boos.

Drinks are thrown at them as they make their way up and the man riles up the crowd even more by making gestures, putting up his middle finger and blowing kisses.

Some in the crowd are heard shouting 'f*** you' towards him.

The incident came as Combs was forced to delay his entrance on stage following a warning by the National Weather Service minutes before his scheduled appearance.

He issued a statement on the stadium screens which said he would perform once the weather had cleared.

The singer, who shot to fame following his cover of Tracy Chapman’s 1988 classic Fast Car, was supposed to appear at 9pm.

But a passing storm meant he would not take to the stage until 11.20pm, just 10 minutes before the city curfew.

Fans were left frustrated due to the lack of communication from the organizers and thousands of people went to the main concourse to seek shelter from the bad weather.

But others decided to head for the exits after mixed messaging from venue staff who were not clear whether the show would take place.

Another fight broke out within the Lincoln Financial Field between a separate group of women who were shoving each other in the middle of the concourse.

A concertgoer intervened before it escalated and separated them.
