Geras announced for Mortal Kombat 1 in new trailer
We're now less than two months out from the launch of Mortal Kombat 1, but there's still quite a bit left to see about what and who is going to be included in the game.
During DreamCon 2023, NetherRealm Studios revealed Geras as the latest playable character for MK1 in a brand new trailer.
Back for his sophomore outing after debuting in Mortal Kombat 11, Geras is sporting a bit of a cool new design though he's still definitely a master of the sands of time.
We're treated to some of his old staples like kicking opponents through constructed walls, and now he'll apparently tackle and throw you through them too.
They also show off some extended time stop powers, and one of his throws has another version of Geras attack from above before the original one fades away.
Although the duo were on opposite sides of the conflict in MK11, Liu Kang and Geras are now apparently on the "same team" as defenders of the hourglass after the fire god took control over time in the last game.
Interestingly, Geras is the only other character in the MK1 story we've seen so far actually acknowledge the previous timeline, which isn't all that surprising considering the dude lives outside of its natural laws.
He sounds as though, however, he may not be fully on board with how much destiny Liu Kang messed with for the new era, or Geras already knows it's not going to work out as the fire god is hoping it would.
The trailer caps off with a couple of new Fatalities with Geras grinding down Baraka against a sand storm while Liu Kang takes Sub-Zero out to space to be pulled apart by what appears to be a black hole.
There's no new Kameos featured in the trailer unfortunately, but we do get to see some more of klassic Sektor and Darrius helping out in the action.
Earlier this month, NRS revealed Li Mei, Tanya and Baraka are back on the starting roster of MK1 as well, and they also apparently showed off some extra story mode scenes with Reiko and Motaro behind closed doors.
Mortal Kombat 1 is scheduled to release on September 19 for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and PC with a pre-order beta test coming on August 18 next month.
