Pokemon GO Reveals New Quality of Life Feature That Makes Getting Into Raids Easier

Niantic has revealed it is testing a major quality of life change that will make taking part in Pokemon GO raids significantly faster and easier. Since the mobile game spinoff of the beloved monster-catching franchise launched in 2016, Niantic has consistently added new features and improved existing ones. The game recently rolled out the new Routes feature, with players able to track and share routes between different points of interest for bonus experience. Now, the developer is testing a major improvement for the popular raid system.
Pokemon GO's raids have become one of the highlights of the game for many fans, pitting teams of players against powerful and rare Pokemon. The game regularly holds weekly "Raid Hours" showcasing special featured Pokemon appearing throughout multiple Gyms for a limited time. Pokemon GO's raids have also served as a way for Niantic to introduce new Pokemon into the game, recently adding Mega Tyranitar to the pool of possible Raid Pokemon players can battle. The newest in-development change from Niantic will look to make the raiding process significantly faster for players.

In an update posted by the official Niantic Support Twitter account, the developer would reveal it is testing a "Ready to Raid" button for Pokemon GO's raids. Using the button would allow players to skip past the typically lengthy countdown before Raids, shortening the timer to just 10 seconds to expedite the raiding process. The test feature is reportedly being rolled out initially in London, Osaka City, and Suita City with a worldwide release potentially coming later. Niantic would also confirm that the test does include Pokemon GO's Remote Raids being held in those areas.
A "ready up" system for Pokemon GO would serve to alleviate many of the headaches involved with starting Raids in the game. The game currently features a standard 110-second countdown before allowing players to begin a Raid battle, with no way to skip or shorten the wait times. A way to expedite downtime before Raids has been a popular request from fans, alongside other suggested features like deleting Eggs and mass gift sending. Niantic did not confirm whether the ready system would be implemented worldwide following the test period.
Pokemon GO's raid changes come as the game is set to introduce several new Raid Pokemon in the near future. Alongside the previously mentioned Mega Tyranitar, Niantic would also confirm that mythical Pokemon Diancie would be making its debut in the game during Pokemon GO Fest 2023. The game's newest Mythical Pokemon will also receive its Mega Evolution alongside its release, marking the first time Pokemon GO has debuted multiple Mythical Pokemon during the annual event. Pokemon GO's introduction of a ready button should make taking part in Raid battles even easier for many players.
