Dodgers Rumors: Justin Verlander Says He's Open to Being Traded from New York
The trade deadline is now less that 48 hours away, and there’s sure to be a flurry of activity as the Tuesday at 3 PM deadline draws closer.
The Los Angeles Dodgers will certainly be involved in trade negotiations, and the team is still trying to add a starting pitcher ahead of the clock striking 3 in just two short days.
They’ve tried unsuccessfully to deal for former White Sox pitcher Lucas Giolito and former St. Louis Cardinal Jordan Montgomery, who were traded to the Los Angeles Angels and Texas Rangers respectively.
Even though two key names are off the market, one team that will definitely be open to a trade is the New York Mets.
The Mets traded closer David Robertson and starter Max Scherzer this week as part of their roster reshuffle, and current Met starter Justin Verlander said he’d be open to a trade if the organization goes into a total rebuild. Justin Verlander on if he’d be open to a trade:

It certainly appears that the Mets are indeed going full rebuild mode with their trades of Robertson and Scherzer, and the 40-year-old Verlander has also been linked to the Dodgers in the leadup to the deadline.
Verlander has a full no-trade clause, but if he is willing to waive that like he said he is, the Dodgers have more than enough capital to make a trade.
Gavin Stone, Michael Busch, and Michael Grove are just some of the names that could hypothetically be moved, along with lower-tier prospect Nick Frasso.
The Dodgers still need to upgrade their rotation, even with the acquisition of Lance Lynn from the Chicago White Sox on Friday. Even though they’ve come up empty on some hurlers up to this point, they likely have both a ready and willing partner in the New York Mets, along with a pitcher who’s open to looking at greener pastures as he approaches the end of his career.
There’s nothing concrete between the sides for Verlander, but it’s something to keep an eye on ahead of next week’s deadline.
