Man dead, woman hurt in Woonsocket shooting
WOONSOCKET, R.I. (WPRI) — Woonsocket police are investigating after a man allegedly shot his wife and then himself early Monday morning.
Officers were called to a home on Fairmount Street around 2:15 a.m.
Police found Walter Lopez, 52, dead from an apparent gunshot wound to the head and his 34-year-old wife with a gunshot wound to her thigh.
The woman was rushed to the hospital where she remains in serious condition, according to police.
Police say two additional family members, a 3-year-old and a 20-year-old, were also in the home uninjured. They have since been removed from the home along with a family dog.
The incident remains under investigation.
