Buccaners general manager Jason Licht said today “there were a couple of quarterbacks” on his radar to draft last week but the draft didn’t shake out for the Bucs to get one.

Licht added the QB targets were “not necessarily high” draft picks.

Licht delivered the insight on WDAE radio and added that the Bucs will now move to adding a veteran QB.

“Right now we like the competition that’s going on with Baker [Mayfield] and Kyle [Trask], couldn’t be happier with the way it’s going right now, just both of them getting ready to go into training camp,” Licht said. “…But we do have a plan. We probably would like to bring in a vet. Just somebody that has been there done that and can be in that room with them, not necessarily somebody that we think is going to take over the competition. But somebody that can just add to that room. We’ve got a few options that we’re keeping in mind.”

Joe wrote in detail yesterday about the Bucs pursuing a veteran QB. That’s what Todd Bowles wants.

Keep an eye on Trevor Siemian, 31, the former Broncos, Jets, Bears and Saints quarterback who has made 30 career starts.
