In the wake of her leading lady role in the fantasy film The Little Mermaid, Halle Bailey appears poised to be getting ready to kick off her solo musical career.

On Monday, the actress and singer took to her Instagram page and teased her upcoming new song, Angel, that's slated to drop on Friday, August 4.

'angels make a way somehow. friday. pre-save link in bio,' Bailey wrote in the caption.

In the promo there are a series of home videos that showcase Bailey's life, beginning with her as an infant and a young girl growing up in Mableton, Georgia.

At one point she's seen unwrapping a gift and shouting out, 'I got an electric guitar!' In another the excited little girl shows off a bracelet and says, 'my charms have an angel.'

As the video moves along to a soft and emotional piano instrumental, Bailey can be seen at different points of her life leading up to her as a young adult.

The montage continues with quick clips of Bailey singing in school, onstage with her sister, and several pictures of her mugging for the camera from her childhood.

That transitions to images and clips from her more recent years, which includes a shot of the Disney castle, in a reference to her recent starring role in The Little Mermaid.

As the teaser videos gets close to the end the line, 'Angels make a way somehow' appears on the screen.

It's likely the phrase is part of the lyrics for the upcoming new solo song from Bailey, who's one half of the musical duo Chloe x Halle, along with her older sister Chloe Bailey.

The phrase is followed by the singular word 'Angel' and then the song’s release date, August 4, 2023.

Angel will mark Bailey’s first unaccompanied original song after showcasing her musical talents in Chloe x Halle the last 10-plus years.
