If you thought Square Enix's mega-MMO Final Fantasy XIV could be improved by Frankensteining the recently released Pixel Remasters into the Manderville Gold Saucer or something, you aren't alone. Naoki Yoshida, the producer of the popular game, wants the same thing. If you have the technical skills to make it happen, then Yoshi-P wants you.

Speaking during a roundtable interview attended by GamesRadar+, Yoshida made some genuinely fascinating comments regarding the inclusion of the remasters: "And with, like, the Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster series coming out, we thought that wouldn't it be cool if we can play that in the Gold Saucer?" He then goes on to describe the issue that prevents this reality, that the Pixel Remasters themselves operate on some kind of "middleware".

Yoshida continued: "So because it's running on middleware, if you want to implement that into 14, you'd have to build another system that can play back the middleware inside the game. So it's like you're building a system of a game to play a system of a game. It's just this weird configuration."

Yoshi-P then goes on to jokingly suggest that if a "super programmer" were up to the gargantuan task, then Square Enix would be very interested to see their resume, which sounds like a challenge to us. We'd take a shot at Sky Pirating into the upper echelons of game development ourselves if we weren't so content telling infinitely smarter people whether their games are any good or not.

Can you fit the square peg that is the Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters into the round hole that is Final Fantasy XIV? Display your prowess in the comments section below.
