Enhanced Box Score: Cubs 20, Reds 9
The Cubs really wanted to end the Blogathon with a bang. Send me off on angels wings into a perfect and happy and delightful slumber.
Because that was a STOMPING of the first place Reds. Good lord.
The Cubs had a five-run lead before the Reds even recorded an out, and by the time Reds starter Ben Lively was mercifully permitted by his manager to exit the game, he had been charged with 13 runs. You know, something not seen since pitchers were out there with names like Boom-Boom:
The Cubs added another seven runs from there, including some freebies off of a position player. Take ’em when you can get ’em. Cubs really are gonna win that Run Differential Championship.
