Prince Harry pulls awkward face ahead Charles' of coronation
Prince Harry smiled awkwardly as he was relegated to a third-row seat at his father, King Charles III’s coronation Saturday — even pulling a face at one point as royal watchers noted that the Duke of Sussex appeared “uncomfortable.”
Harry, 38, was seated two rows behind his estranged brother, Prince William, 40, at Westminster Abbey between his cousin Princess Eugenie’s husband, Jack Brooksbank, and Princess Alexandra, a cousin of his late grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II.
The flame-haired rogue royal was seen awkwardly nodding at other guests and joking with Brooksbank as he awaited the ceremony to begin.
However, seeming to be aware of the tension overshadowing the momentous occasion, Harry pulled an exaggerated uneasy smile.
Royal watchers were quick to notice the face, noting that the Duke of Sussex appeared nervous.
“Harry looks fidgety and very uncomfortable,” one person commented on a video of the moment shared on social media by ITV News.
“Looks like he isn’t very comfortable being there. I wonder if it’s the itching powder on his chair,” another quipped.
“I bet he can’t wait to leave,” a third speculated.
Others struck a harsher tone about Harry’s demeanor.
“Harry has zero class acting like a true clown,” a royalist on Twitter seethed.
The Duke of Sussex — who has been mostly estranged from his father and the rest of the royal family since he and wife Meghan Markle, 41, moved to California in 2020 — announced last month that he would be attending the coronation after weeks of suspicion that he would skip the day altogether.
Meghan, however, opted to stay in Montecito with the pair’s children, Prince Archie, who turns four today, and Princess Lilibet, 1.

The rogue royal become further distanced from his father and stepmother, Queen Camilla, following the publication of his memoir, “Spare,” earlier this year.
The coronation was the first time he came face-to-face with his father and brother.
He arrived at Westminster Abbey on Saturday in a simple morning suit while his disgraced uncle, Jeffrey Epstein pal Prince Andrew, was notably dressed in traditional garter robes.
