16-year-old killed in shooting at Houston after-prom party
A 16-year-old boy was shot and killed at an after-prom party early Saturday morning in Houston after a dispute with the father of a girl at the celebration.
The shots rang out at the Houston home at about 1:30 a.m. and the teen, Isacc Zetino, was “struck by gunfire,” according to a press release from the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
Zetino was pronounced dead at the scene.
The sheriff’s office said that Zetino had been at the residence to attend an after-prom party that evening and had gotten “involved in a disturbance” with another juvenile male and the father of a female partygoer.
During the encounter, “both parties produced handguns and fired at each other.” Authorities have not shared what the dispute was about.
Police found the father who exchanged gunfire with the teen and said he was cooperating with their investigation.
Authorities have not publicly named the man.

The father provided police with a statement regarding the incident that said he “had acted in self-defense when he was shooting.”
His statement was corroborated by evidence collected at the scene that showed several people had been firing handguns at the time of the incident.
Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez also confirmed Zetino’s death on Twitter.
Gonzalez said the party was initially believed to be a graduation party, but later said it was a post-prom party.
The Harris County Sheriff’s Office said up to 100 people were at the party when Zetino and another teen boy got into a dispute with a parent, KHOU reported.

Both teen boys and the father pulled handguns and opened fire on each other. Zetino was shot multiple times by the father and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the outlet.
Authorities said they interviewed 15 witnesses but that many of the guests ran from the house before police arrived.
Zetino was said to be a friend of the girl who lives at the home.

No charges have been filed at this time.
The case is still under investigation. Once the investigation is complete, the case will be presented to a grand jury for any possible charges.
