Enhanced Box Score: Cubs 10, Cardinals 4 - May 10, 2023
We needed that. We all needed that. The fans, undoubtedly. And I think many of the players needed a night like that, too.
The Cubs fell behind early tonight, but didn’t stay behind for long. And when they turned it on, they poured it on, with almost everyone getting in on the fun. Dansby Swanson was doubling, Seiya Suzuki was actually looking comfortable, Patrick Wisdom was homering again, Christopher Morel was just blistering the ball … so much fun.
Although he managed yet another quality start, Justin Steele’s long streak of starts allowing no more than two earned runs came to an end at the hands of the Cardinals. Now I REALLY hate them. (I also hate the ump a little bit for squeezing him.)
On the other side, Jordan Montgomery struggled with these Cubs in a way he really hasn’t this year, so that, too, was nice to see. I wish the bats had done that the first two nights of the series, but I’ll take the salvage job, especially when it’s a comfortable blowout win.
