2 dead, 2 hurt in crash following chase in Greenville, coroner says
GREENVILLE, S.C. (FOX Carolina) - The Greenville County Coroner’s Office said two people are dead and two are hurt following a chase involving the Greenville Police Department.
Officers said they spotted a reportedly stolen car near Easley Bridge Road around 9:45 p.m. However, when officers tried to pull the vehicle over, the driver allegedly refused to stop, and a chase began.
According to officers, the chase continued until officers lost sight of the vehicle and deactivated their equipment. Shortly after, the vehicle crashed on Grove Road.
Officers confirmed that one person passed away on scene of the crash, and three people were taken to the hospital with injuries. One of the three people taken to the hospital passed away from their injuries.
Officers stated that they are currently searching for a suspect who possibly fled the scene following the crash.
South Carolina Highway Patrol troopers are investigating this crash. We will update this story as officials release new details.
