Mason Crosby's Wife Indicates Kicker Won't Return To Packers After 16 Seasons
The Green Bay Packers already bid farewell to one longtime face of their franchise this offseason after they traded star quarterback Aaron Rodgers to the New York Jets.
It now seems like another veteran could be on the way out, as well.
Molly Crosby, the wife of Packers kicker Mason Crosby, appears to have let slip on social media that her husband will not return to Green Bay after spending the past 16 seasons as the team's kicker. Mason Crosby became a free agent earlier this offseason.
Molly Crosby replied to a Twitter post by Olympic gymnast Simone Biles, who was seeking Green Bay recommendations after her husband, Jonathan Owens, signed with the Packers on Friday.
In her reply, Molly Crosby wrote that she and her husband "just ended a 16 year run with the team."
"Sad we will miss you, we just ended a 16 year run with the team," Molly Crosby wrote. "That being said... I've got stuff I need to share with you. Little city with big heart and some AMAZING stores and restaurants. We loved our time there and so will you! Let's talk coats, boots, custom packer gear..."
That's not the only time on Saturday that Molly Crosby has indicated Mason's run with the Packers is up, either. She quoted another tweet and said it "feels like graduating high school."
While Mason Crosby's contract expired after the 2022 season, there was some thought that the Packers might re-sign the 38-year-old, especially since they have not added another kicker to their roster.
Molly Crosby's tweets, however, make it sound like either the family has been told the Packers do not intend to bring him back or Mason is on the verge of agreeing to a contract with another franchise.
If that is indeed the case, Crosby will leave Green Bay as its all-time leader in points scored. He made 395 field goals during his career, connecting at a mark of 81.4 percent. He also made 733 of 753 point-after attempts.
The Packers are making it clear this offseason that all good things indeed must end.
