Enhanced Box Score: Twins 16, Cubs 3 - May 14, 2023
That was not fun. Hope you spent time with your mother today instead of watching that. You hate to see a throwaway game at any time, but especially two in a row, and especially when a series win was on the line.
Marcus Stroman set the tone for the day, which I don’t mean in a great way. Stroman has mostly been outstanding this year, so he was due for a clunker, and that’s what today was. At least he did it on a day when the Cubs weren’t going to score many runs anyway and the bullpen was going to get blown up? Does that work? Can I say that? Any comfort provided? (Yeah, me neither.)
Oh, not the whole bullpen – special shouts to Keegan Thompson for two clean innings in low-leverage mode. Working things out. Need him to.
Meanwhile, the Cubs’ run differential has absolutely tanked the last two days, so at least we don’t have to suffer the cognitive dissonance much longer. Much less work figuring out the luck component now. Whew.
Two nice things were the MONSTER Christopher Morel homer and the get-this-guy-back-into-power-mode Seiya Suzuki homer:

If those homers had just been seven-run shots, the Cubs … would’ve only lost by one.
