The original story as follows:
Taylor Swift fans are raising thousands of dollars for the family of a Texas man who was hit and killed after the Eras tour concert in Houston on Saturday, April 22. Houston police said Jacob Lewis, 20, was struck and killed by a suspected drunk driver.
Lewis and his sister were having car trouble on the way home from the concert at NRG Stadium in Houston on Saturday, family members posted on Facebook. The two made it to the shoulder of the Southwest Freeway. But when Lewis began pushing the car to a nearby exit, he was hit by another car and died instantly, his family said. His sister suffered minor bruises and scrapes.
The Houston Police found the suspected driver who hit Lewis after he fled the scene. Alan Bryant Hayes, 34, was charged with driving while intoxicated (3rd offense) and failure to stop and render aid, according to Houston Police.
A GoFundMe was created for Lewis after the fatal crash and has now raised over $106,000 after hundreds of Taylor Sift fans pledged to each donate $13. On Facebook, Lewis' dad, Steve, said his son was a longtime lover of musical theatre and enjoyed video games and storytelling.
His father said his son was set to study musical theatre at Sam Houston State this fall. Jacob also loved listening to music, playing music, and competing in the Pokemon World Championships.
"Jacob left this world much too early," his father said. "...Jacob will be remembered as a loving and faithful young man who was loyal to his family and friends. His last act was to push his sister to safety on a dark street. There is no way to describe the magnitude of this loss and the emptiness left in our hearts."
