PlayStation has officially announced the name of its upcoming accessibility controller: the Access controller.

In a new PlayStation Blog post, the company unveiled new information on its accessibility controller kit, previously codenamed Project Leonardo. The Access controller will include its own dedicated accessibility UI on the PS5, where you can add controller profiles, button mapping, and adjust the deadzones and stick sensitivity.

The blog post also notes that the Access controller features a toggle mode that "allows players to adjust the behavior of any button to work like a caps lock key on a keyboard." Per the blog, Toggle mode could be used to input acceleration in a racing game like Gran Turismo 7; the Access controller will accelerate without the player being required to hold down the button.

The Access controller was first revealed at CES earlier this year, and it marks the first time PlayStation is making a first-party controller designed for players with disabilities. It was previously confirmed that the Access controller will include swappable components, including a variety of buttons and stick caps to adapt to many needs.

PlayStation has yet to announce when the Access controller will be released or how much it will cost. Though Hideaki Nishino, the Senior VP of Platform Experience at Sony Interactive Entertainment, said the company plans to "have more to share about the Access controller for PS5, including more product and release details, in the months ahead."
