Most of the commentators we have here in the fighting game community are of course strong players in their own right, but they typically aren't asked to do both at the same time at events.

Legendary player Justin Wong took on the double duty at Texas Showdown 2023 this weekend commentating his own top 8 matches in Capcom vs. SNK 2 including his grand finals set.

Despite the stacked bracket, JWong would commentate all 4 of his top 8 matches for CvS2 from the stage while Mister J remained on the desk to hold down the fort.

Up against the Texas Showdown CvS2 champion from 2022, umthrfkr, is able to take the set 2-0 before getting sent to the losers bracket by Japanese player Coates|Bas.

Justin would defeat Silentscope in losers final to get one more shot at Bas on the stage while remaining on his mic, which is certainly admirable for going up against such world-class opponents.

Obviously, Wong's not as talkative when he's in the player's seat, but he is still commentating the match and providing insights as to his own strategies as well as what his opponents are trying to do.

Justin's got a lot of experience playing and talking at the same time from his streams though this is a bit of a different beast when you're up on stage at a tournament and trying to hold a conversation with your co-commentator.

Although he had a good run busting out the classic Sagat, Vega and Chun-Li, JWong would fall in grand finals to Bas once again, which he doesn't seem too torn up about.

The full top 8 for CvS2 at Texas Showdown this year is a blast with more players like Combo Fiend, RonOasis, Ericturbo and Sonic_O involved, so go check it out on HXCGaming's Twitch archive if you missed it live.
