NYC violence leaves two dead, one hurt
Two men were killed and another slashed in separate incidents across the city, police reported Saturday.
A man with “obvious signs of trauma” was found dead inside his Bronx apartment Friday at 10:30 a.m. after authorities responded to a 911 call for an unconscious man at the Hoe Avenue address.
Yaya Kouyate, 48, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The city medical examiner city ruled the victim’s death a homicide, noting he died due to “compression of the neck.” There are no arrests.
“The investigation remains ongoing,” the NYPD said Saturday.
Less than two hours later, at 12:25 p.m., pedestrian Jesus Perez, 49, was killed during a possible road rage incident in Brooklyn, authorities said.
Perez was fatally struck by a hit-and-run driver at South 5 Street and Keap Street in Williamsburg, police said.
He was pronounced dead at Woodhull Hospital.
Investigators believe Perez and the unknown operator of a dark colored Honda CRV were involved in a dispute when the victim stood in the middle of Keap Street, authorities said.
The driver sped off and abandoned the Honda a mile away on Humboldt Street.
There are no arrests.
Blood was also spilled in Manhattan late Friday night when a man was slashed on the chin with a box cutter during an “unprovoked attack” on 7th Avenue and West 53rd Street, police said.
The victim, 33, was taken to Bellevue Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, cops said. There are no arrests.
