Bill Belichick's cheeky response to Patriots' NFL punishment
It appears Bill Belichick cannot be bothered at the ripe old age of 71.
The longtime Patriots head coach spoke to media Wednesday for the first time since the team was docked two organized team activity practices by the NFL for rules violations. Those practices were supposed to be held last Thursday and this past Tuesday, sandwiching Memorial Day weekend.
And it appears the notoriously workaholic coach actually took some time off as a result.
“Had a good, long weekend,” Belichick said to reporters.
New England was docked the practices after players spent more time at the team facility than permitted by the league — a violation for which former Giants head coach Joe Judge was apparently responsible.
According to the Boston Sports Journal, Judge held special teams meetings that kept players longer than allowed.
Still, Belichick took responsibility for the violation.

“The whole situation is in the past,” Belichick said. “It’s resolved and we’ve moved on.
“I’m responsible for it. That’s it,” he later added.
Belichick was fined $50,000 in addition to having the practices docked.
Later in the press conference, Belichick was asked what Judge’s official role is with the team — but he declined to clarify.

“He’ll do whatever I ask him to do,” Belichick said. “It might change from time to time, he’ll be involved in a lot of things.
“Joe is great. Smart guy, got a lot of experience. Do whatever we need him to do, and he can do a lot. So he will.”
