Enhanced Box Score: Cubs 4, Pirates 0 - June 20, 2023
The Cubs did it again, beating the Pirates for the fifth time in the last week and a half. They’re kinda sinking the Pirates’ ship, eh?
Marcus Stroman, man. He just KEEPS DOING IT. Another great night, with seven scoreless innings, not a whole lot of drama, five strikeouts, five hits, one walk, and ten groundouts. Decent number of whiffs. Solid CSW. It was just good all around. Not much else to say about it, because you’ve seen this start many times before.
Mark Leiter Jr. looked good thereafter, and Adbert Alzolay – who is definitely the closer now, even if it wasn’t a save situation – mowed ’em down in the 9th.
Look, it’s great that the Cubs won again and all, but …
