A Red Dead Redemption 2 player has shown off a hilarious clip where they trick an NPC into committing a crime. Red Dead Redemption 2 offers players complete freedom to behave however they’d like in Rockstar's classic open-world game, and some gamers take great advantage of this.

When Red Dead Redemption 2 was initially released, many were quick to try and find out exactly what the Western title allowed the community to get away with. The answer - quite a lot. Even for a Rockstar game, it was a surprising amount of freedom to give to the community. The results have paid off massively, with gamers causing all kinds of trouble in-game. Some take it too far, like the Red Dead Redemption 2 player who committed the most sadistic act possible. With its remarkably flexible sandbox, gamers haven’t seen the last of bizarre Red Dead Redemption 2 clips.

The video by Redditor Egolo69 starts out completely normal, with them buying a weapon from the gun store. They then begin to rob the store, before being shot at by the owner. However, Egolo69 doesn’t fight back. Instead, he runs over to the Sheriff while being shot at, who in turn starts a gunfight with the store owner. It’s a complex turn of events, but it doesn’t seem to be a Red Dead Redemption 2 glitch. This seems to be a mastery of the game’s AI, knowing exactly how to play them against each other, with hilarious results.

Gamers in the thread were quick to inquire further about the situation. One user pondered if the player would then be able to go back into the gun store and rob it for real. The answer was yes, with it taking a few days for the owner to respawn. Committing robberies in Red Dead Redemption 2 is one of the more fun parts of the game, but in this case, the situation practically worked itself out.

It's extremely fortunate that the game offers players such freedom, as it looks as though Red Dead Redemption 2 will remain the biggest cowboy video game for some time to come. While Red Dead Redemption 3 is almost a certainty at this point, Rockstar's ongoing development of GTA 6 means that it will be a long while before players are able to play a sequel. It's almost ten years after the previous GTA title was released, so it's understandable that Rockstar’s resources are in that department. It remains a painful wait for Red Dead Redemption franchise fans, though.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
