Denson 'Piano Densetsu' Taylor III has sadly passed away
It's a sad day for the fighting game community. Earlier today, it was reported that Denson "Piano Densetsu" Taylor III, a content creator within the FGC that has always been friendly with everyone, has passed away.
True to his name, Piano Densetsu became known as a "video game music specialist" who often recorded himself playing fighting game themes on his piano which included themes from the Street Fighter series such as Ken's theme, Rashid's theme, Alex's theme, Makoto's theme, Juri's theme, and many more. Piano Densetsu has uploaded videos on his YouTube channels dating all the way back to January 6, 2009 (over 14 years).
According to David Kim on Twitter, Taylor had been battling an extremely aggressive form of stage 4 kidney cancer. He "peacefully passed on earlier today after valiantly battling" this cancer.
In early June, Taylor provided a life update from the ICU which started with him having some issues with his back. He noted that lymph nodes were discovered on his kidneys, and though this was concerning, Denson maintained a positive outlook.
Piano Densetsu first saw notoriety for his top notch piano covers of classic fighting game songs. Later, he would go on to become a full-on content creator and streamer, making a name for himself in Street Fighter 5 and sharing numerous high-level highlights for the community to enjoy.
Those that knew Piano Densetsu personally have described him as someone who was always kind and always smiling towards everyone he met. Taylor was a skilled pianist, a content creator, a member of the FGC, a participant in the EventHubs forums, a friend, and a brother. He truly had a heart of gold.
In just the span of two days, the community came together to raise about $14,000 via Taylor's Gofundme page. Truly, this was an individual that made lasting impressions within our community.
Here's to Piano Densetsu. May he rest in peace.
