Ex-UFC fighter Felipe Colares, 29, dead after being hit by bus
Former UFC fighter Felipe Colares has died at the age of 29 after he was struck by a bus in Brazil.
Colares’ coach Rodrigo Babi told the Brazilian MMA outlet Combate that Colares was returning from training in Rio de Janeiro when he was hit by a bus on Avenida das Américas.
The MMA fighter succumbed to his injuries on his way to the hospital, the report said.
Colares is survived by his wife, Jaqueline, and a 10-month-old son.
As a professional MMA fighter, Colares was 10-4.
He fought six times for UFC between 2019 and 2022, going 2-4 in the competition.
His final UFC fight was at UFC Fight Night last May, a loss to Chase Hooper via KO/TKO.
Colares last fought at Ares FC 12 in Paris this past February, defeating Alioune Nahaye by choke-out submission in the first round.

“The ARES family sends its most sincere condolences to the family and friends of Felipe Colares,” the promotion said on Instagram.
Corales went viral earlier this year when he helped detain a phone thief suspect, holding him until police arrived at the scene.
According to ESPN, Colares also worked for Empoderadas, a government program launched to raise awareness about violence against women plus instruct self-defense.
“Felipe made a tremendous contribution with his experience as a multi-champion athlete helping us develop techniques to prevent and cope with violence against women,” Empoderadas’ Instagram account wrote on Monday.
