Skyrim: How to Get the Fiery Soul Trap Enchantment
Players can find dozens of enchantment types throughout The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim. Some of them improve basic stats, some of them add damage or special effects to weapons, and some of them improve resistance and regeneration. The best enchantments in Skyrim can greatly benefit the Dragonborn.

For most of these enchantments, players can get them by disenchanting random weapons or apparel items, or by finding a specific item that's unique but still destructible. However, there's one completely unique enchantment in Skyrim that players can get by disenchanting one specific weapon in one specific barrow: Fiery Soul Trap. Here's where to get it and how it works.
Ironbind Barrow
The appropriately named Ironbind Barrow is very out of the way. It's about the same distance away from Dawnstar and Winterhold, but south across the mountains. The easiest way to reach the barrow is probably to take the road northwest from Windhelm to Nightingale Inn, then take the path north to the barrow marker.
Just outside the barrow entrance, players will find a pair of reluctant adventurers named Salma and Beem-Ja. Players should speak to Salma, who will agree to enter the ruins along with the Dragonborn. She'll suggest that the barrow should have enough loot for everyone, but she and Beem-Ja will charge forward into rooms full of draugr rather than spend a moment searching for traps or gold.

Fortunately, the adventurers stop after every second room or so, which means players can take their time and loot the ruin without having to worry about them getting too far ahead. Salma and Beem-Ja can't be killed by the draugr, although players can take them out with a badly aimed blow. This means it's safer for them for players to stand back instead of joining them in the charge.
There are two minor obstacles players must figure out to reach the end of this barrow dungeon. First, there's a closed gate with two narrow passages on either side. The right passage holds a chest, while the left chest has a handle on the right wall that opens the gate. Next, there's a magic helmet on a pedestal surrounded by a spear trap. The adventurers won't touch it, but players can avoid injury by grabbing the helmet and backing away quickly. This will also open the path forward.

The final chamber holds a draugr lord called Gathrik. Killing him will get rid of every enemy in the room, so focus on him. After that, Beem-Ja will attack the Dragonborn, so take him out. Salma will be so dismayed by this that she won't ask for any of the barrow's loot.
The goal of this dungeon is the Steel Battleaxe of Fiery Soul, which sits on the back of Gathrik's throne. Don't forget to pick up the word from the wall behind the throne to learn part of the Become Ethereal shout. Once players are ready to leave, descend the stairs in this room and turn right to find the shortcut back to the entrance. The chain that opens this gate is right next to it.
The Fiery Soul Trap Enchantment
A steel battleaxe isn't a great weapon after the first few levels, but fortunately, players aren't stuck with it. Instead, bring the battleaxe to an enchanting station to get access to Fiery Soul Trap and apply it to any weapon.
Fiery Soul Trap is two enchantments in one. Not only can it trap the soul of any creature it strikes, but it also deals 10 fire damage at the same time. Players can eventually get an Enchanting perk that allows them to add two enchantments to one item, which can match this effect, but then players can also combine the Extra Effect perk with Fiery Soul Trap to get three effects on a single weapon.
One thing players should keep in mind is that adjusting the strength of Fiery Soul Trap changes how long the soul trap effect stays active, not how much fire damage it adds. Since players can use this weapon to deal with finishing blows, the best choice is to set the effect to one second. This will give the weapon as many charges as possible.
