Highlights The creators of Quantum Error have canceled the PS4 version of the game due to hardware limitations and a difficulty in achieving the same quality as the PS5 version.

TeamKill Media made the announcement on social media, stating that the slower HDD speed of the PS4 would prevent the game from running at a smooth 60 FPS rate without sacrificing too much.

This is not the first time the team has encountered issues with non-PS5 platforms, as they previously mentioned potential loading screens for the Xbox version.

The creators of Quantum Error have recently canceled the PS4 version of the title, stating that it was impossible to live up to the quality of the PS5 version in outdated hardware. Quantum Error is an upcoming first-person cosmic horror game that features a team of firefighters as protagonists, and it’s a highly anticipated upcoming horror game for fans of the genre.

Soon after it was originally announced for the PS5 back in 2020, it was revealed that Quantum Error would no longer be a PS5 exclusive, with versions coming for both Xbox Series X/S and PS4. However, it seems that the development of the title for other platforms is not going very smoothly due to several hardware limitations.

The announcement of the cancelation of Quantum Error’s PS4 version was made by the official profile of the game on social media. According to TeamKill Media, the devs had originally hoped that they would be able to pull off a PS4 version of the game, but this endeavor simply required too much downgrading and changing of assets to work properly. In the post, TeamKill Media affirmed that there’s no way to make the game run at a smooth 60 FPS rate on PS4 without sacrificing too much, mostly due to the slower HDD speed. Considering that the team started the development with the PS5 version in mind, last-gen consoles won’t have the same power and, even if the team spent a lot of time working on the PS4 version, it would still fall short of their expectations.

This unfortunate news is not the first time that the team has been unhappy with non-PS5 platforms. A few days ago, TeamKill Media also revealed that the Xbox version of Quantum Error would potentially have loading screens whereas the PS5 version would not.

While the developers have affirmed that Quantum Error is near the end of development, the title still does not have an official release date. So, gamers may need to play other horror games available for PS5 to tide them over. Additionally, TeamKill Media also disclosed in the comments of the post that there are no plans for the PC launch yet, and they don’t know when the port will be done.

Quantum Error is currently in development for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
