Highlights Tears of the Kingdom players are getting creative, building impressive mechs that can walk on water, showcasing their tinkering skills.
Mechs in the game are versatile and can carry powerful weapons, making them a popular choice for players looking for mobility and firepower.
A Reddit user, divlogue, built a water-walking mech using floating balls and Zonai Springs, making it a unique and agile creation in the Tears of the Kingdom community.
One tinkering-inclined The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom player has succeeded in building a giant mech that can walk on water. The footage of their impressive robot started making the rounds on social media shortly after a different player showcased another incredible Tears of the Kingdom mech shaped like a goose.
Pilotable machines have been the frequent subject of Tears of the Kingdom community creations ever since the new Zelda game hit the market in mid-May. Apart from facilitating movement, mechs are also suitable for carrying devastating Zonai weapons, thus being one of the most versatile types of vehicles that players can build in the game.

And while many robots that the fandom authored to date have proven to be extremely agile, none boasted the ability to walk on water, at least until Reddit user divlogue created one such machine. Shortly after finishing a speedy Tears of the Kingdom unicycle build, this crafty player realized that they can leverage one of the game's most buoyant components in order to construct a water-walking mech.
The crucial piece of their design is a pair of floating balls that can be plundered from the Tears of the Kingdom Jonsau Shrine in the Lanayru region. Combining each of them with a Zonai Spring allowed divlogue to build legs that seem to be immune to sinking once they get going. Apart from two wheel-powered hips, this impressive machine also uses one back-mounted propeller to accelerate. That particular component is fairly rare, as it can only be obtained from the Gemimik Shrine in Eastern Hyrule.
The electricity-infused carts making up the mech's torso are merely intended as a defense mechanism and hence aren't required for recreating the robot's water-walking ability. That said, electric emissions are a super effective countermeasure against all aquatic enemies in Tears of the Kingdom. The engineer behind this innovative creation speculated that replacing the mech's spring-loaded feet with metal boxes might even allow it to conduct electricity underwater, although they are yet to test that theory.
In the meantime, players looking to try this design for themselves will first want to visit the aforementioned shrines in order to obtain the necessary components. Extracting unique objects like propellors and floating balls from shrines is as simple as fusing them to a weapon or shield, then visiting Pelison in Tarrey Town. Namely, this helpful little Goron will happily undo any fusion while preserving both of its containing items for a modest fee of 20 rupees.
