How To Beat 7-Star Rillaboom Tera Raid in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet
Rillaboom is appearing in Tera Raids for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, and players want to know the best builds and counters against it in 7-Star Raids. Rillaboom follows in the footsteps of Delphox, the main Pokemon in the previous Star Raid event. Whereas Delphox was a Fire and Psychic-type Pokemon with a Fairy Tera Type, Rillaboom is a Grass Pokemon with a Normal Tera Type. Tera Raids are about you battling a giant Terastallized Pokemon with other trainers.
Pokemon Rillaboom Raid Event in Scarlet and Violet (Best Counters)
The Pokemon Rillaboom Tera Raid event begins on Friday, July 28, and will last until the end of July 30, at 11:59 PM UTC. Rillaboom will appear in the black crystal Tera Raid Battles. If you capture the Rillaboom in a 7-Star Raid, that Rillaboom will have the Mightiest Mark, proof that it was caught in the highest Raid difficulty.
A Pokemon will be Terastallized in Raid Battles in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. Once Terastallized, the Pokemon will gain a Tera Type. Some Tera Types match the default typings of certain Pokemon. Other times a Pokemon will have a completely different Tera Type than its default.
For example, Rillaboom is typically a Grass-type Pokemon. However, as part of the Tera Raid event, Rillaboom’s type while in Terastallized form will be Normal. That means don’t attack expecting the Pokemon will have the same weakness as a Grass-type. Instead, attack Rillaboom as if it’s a Normal-type.
You can choose to fight a Tera Raid Battle either solo or use the online multiplayer to join other trainers. If you decide to go to a Raid solo, the game will fill your group with AI-control trainers. 7-Star Raids are nearly impossible to accomplish by yourself. It is best that you fight the 7-Star Raid Rillaboom with a party.
Best Rillaboom Raid Builds and Raid Counters
The only way to capture the Pokemon Rillaboom during the event is by defeating it in a 7-Star Tera Raid Battle. At the end of every Raid, you can throw Poke Ball to capture the Tera Pokemon you just defeated.
Rillaboom’s Normal Tera Type makes it immune to Ghost-type attacks. Fortunately, Normal-types don’t have any other resistances. Nearly any other type can harm Normal Pokemon in equal measure. Fighting-type Pokemon are the best counters against Normal-types.
While Rillaboom’s typing will be Normal in Tera Raid, it will still use its Grass-types attacks against you. Its strongest Grass moves will be Wood Hammer and Drum Beat. Rillaboom can also know powerful Fighting-type attacks like Hammer Arm and Knock Off.
The best Rillaboom Tera Raid counter would be a Pokemon strong against Grass and Fighting moves. The best Rillaboom Tera Raid builds will be Pokemon that can use strong Fighting attacks and have good resistance toward the gorilla’s attacks.
Chesnaught is one of the best counters against Tera Raid Rillaboom during the event. Its Grass and Fighting-typing make it an ideal build to fight against Tera Raid Rillaboom. Chesnaught’s dual-typing makes it resistant against Rillaboom’s strongest Grass and Fighting moves.
Chesnaught can also learn great Fighting moves, the best attacks being Close Combat and Hammer Arm. You may need to transfer Chesnaught from another Pokemon game into Scarlet and Violet if you want to use him in the Raid battles.
Annihilape is also an excellent counter against Tera Raid battles with Rillaboom. Annihilape is a Fighting and Ghost-type. All the Pokemon’s Ghost-moves will not have an effect against the Normal Tera Type Rillaboom. However, Annihilape’s Ghost typing makes it immune to Rillaboom’s best Fighting attacks.
The best Annihilape build includes moves like Close Combat, plus the Defiant ability and Adamant Nature. Unlike Chesnaught, you can easily gain an Annihilape in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.
