Highlights Players have complained about the inconvenience of dismounting frequently in Diablo.

Blizzard is addressing this by allowing mounts to charge through barricades, a change praised by the community.

While Diablo 4 lacks certain quality-of-life features, Blizzard's response to player feedback is encouraging.

Players have complained about the tedium of needing to frequently dismount their horse in Diablo 4, and it seems that Blizzard has heard their complaints loud and clear with an announcement that will hopefully make traversing the wastelands of Sanctuary much easier. Though mounts in Diablo 4 were a no-brainer with the franchise's pivot into a vast open world, the implementation left a lot to be desired. A significant amount of Diablo 4 fans felt that certain design choices made mounts a chore to use, even if their underlying potential was good.

In addition to unlocking mounts late in Diablo 4's campaign, players took issue with having to deal with a long cooldown when dismounting. As annoying as the cooldown was on its own, coupled with monster barricades, and the inability to break through them without needing to dismount, it made moving across the open world in Diablo 4 much more frustrating than it should have been. Though Diablo 4 had announced many positive changes coming to the game in Patch 1.1.1 during the recent Campfire Chat, there was one bullet point that the developers neglected to mention.

Addressed on Twitter by Joe Shely, Diablo 4's mounts will now be able to charge through a barricade, effectively removing a big source of frustration for many players. Though the upcoming buffs to Barbarian and Sorcerers in Diablo 4 have been the shining jewel of the Campfire Chat, the mount changes have received near-universal praise by even the more cynical voices from the community. While the speed limit in Region Capitals and the mount cooldown still remain an enemy of player convenience, it could be argued that this upcoming change at least removes the worst offender.

Though mount armors in Diablo 4 have had several premium versions crop up in the microtransaction store, Blizzard has generously sprinkled cosmetics all throughout the game as well, be it through achievements or treasure goblins. Season of the Malignant and its Battle Pass have also offered a new mount armor for players to earn, implying that the developers cared enough about the system to make sure players enjoy it in the long-term.

Ultimately, the biggest obstacle that Diablo 4 is facing in living up to its full potential lies in the lack of convenience it offers. Many quality-of-life features are still missing in Diablo 4, and developer comments imply that it may take until Season 3 for players to see their checklist fulfilled. Though the backlash to Season of the Malignant was immense, the response from Blizzard at least shows that the team is willing to listen and work together with the community.

Diablo 4 is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
