Fallout 4 Player Makes Morbid Discovery About Lover's Embrace Perk
While playing Fallout 4, one unfortunate fan discovered an incredibly morbid detail about the game's Lover's Embrace perk. Eight years after its release, Fallout 4 still holds surprises for many of the game's players, even if those surprises are sometimes better left a secret.
Since the release of Fallout 4 back in 2015, the post-apocalyptic RPG franchise now developed by Bethesda is still a hit among many fans of the genre. With a vast retro-inspired world to explore and post-nuclear horrors to see, the world of the Fallout franchise is one of the most unique and realistic in gaming. In a land overflowing with treacherous mutants and ghouls to survive, a player's interactions and relationships also have their own impacts to the game's story. Sometimes specific relationships in the game can reward players with special perks that can help make traveling through the dangerous world slightly easier. However, one player didn't expect to receive one particular perk when having their character take a moment to rest.

While returning to Fizztop Grille to heal up, one Fallout 4 player was horrified to realize that they received the Lover's Embrace perk despite their romantic companion being dead. Even though the companion was dead, the perk was still granted since the deceased partner was in close enough proximity to the bed that was being slept in by the player.
This player's discovery hints at some pretty gruesome and risqué implications since the Lover's Embrace perk involves sleeping with one's romantic partner to gain an experience boost. Also, if someone wanted to play Fallout 4 in a particularly psychotic way, one could theoretically romance a companion as a way to gain their trust and kill them in order to have a constant source for the Lover's Embrace perk. It's no secret that the Fallout franchise is a dark and morbid series of games, and this player's discovery is a disturbing reminder.
It's amazing that even after all these years Fallout 4 is still surprising players, even if it's in unexpectedly morbid ways. The fact that fans are still discovering new details speaks to the incredible effort and detail that Bethesda brought to the development of this game. The small details and hidden gems in large RPGs like the Fallout games are one of the many aspects that keep players coming back for more. No matter how many times someone plays a well-made game in this genre, there always seems to be something new to uncover, even if it's a discovery that makes a player's skin crawl.
Fallout 4 is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions coming in 2023.
